Richard L. Hallum, Jr., CFP®

Partner, Financial Advisor

Richard Hallum began working as a financial planner and wealth manager in 1990.  He earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1998 and joined the Per Stirling team as a Partner in 2017.  Richard is a member of the Financial Planning Association and volunteers as a board member for both the Austin Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) and the Austin Woods and Waters Club.

Being a wealth manager comes naturally to Richard, as it allows him to combine his strength as a problem-solver with his passion for planning and investment management.  Richard brings his attention and compassion to client conversations, learning what clients want to accomplish and then recommending a course of action to help his clients to both pursue their goals and address their financial challenges.  To this end, Richard works very closely with his clients, who include local business executives, small business owners, retirees, and their families who have a minimum portfolio of $250,000.

Whether you need help managing money to fund your retirement, minimizing taxes, working with ISO’s/RSU’s/PBU’s, designing a distribution plan for income during retirement, or answering questions about maximizing Social Security benefits, Richard’s approach to wealth management begins with listening to you to determine what is important to you, what you are seeking to accomplish, and to gather data about your situation.  With this, and other provided information, a draft of your financial analysis is created to determine your current situation and provide a framework for achieving your goals. Following the creation of your analysis, Richard will help you to determine your risk tolerance and develop a portfolio that fits your specific risk tolerance to help you accomplish your goals.  He then meets with his clients at least twice a year (more often if necessary) to monitor their progress toward their goals, make any adjustments as necessary, and address new issues as they occur.
