Per Stirling Volunteers! – Central Texas Food Bank

For our November Community Initiative, the team at Per Stirling decided to focus on helping to feed those in need of adequate food, through the Central Texas Food Bank.

This organization has experienced a dramatic increase in the demand for their services over the past few years, and many families have asked for help for the first time in their lives.  According to the North Texas Food Bank, one of every seven Central Texans have faced hunger this year, so we believe that it’s important to do whatever we can to help provide the nourishing food so badly needed by some of our less-fortunate neighbors.

During the month of November, Per Stirling competed in a Corporate Challenge with other Austin area companies, with the goals of both raising awareness of this ongoing need, and feeding as many families as possible. Per Stirling’s staff and advisors finished 6th out of the 30 companies who participated in the Challenge, and raised enough funds to provide 15,400 meals for our fellow Central Texans! In total, the 30 companies who participated raised enough funds to provide nearly 243,000 meals!

This year, because of the recent reduction in Central Texas COVID cases, we were very pleased to again be able to volunteer in person! Per Stirling staff visited the Central Texas Food Bank, where they sorted food and made emergency food relief boxes for families, which included potatoes, carrots, onions, bread and pastries along with some additional vegetables. Others helped with composting to avoid any food waste. Per Stirling staff and advisors also contributed a substantial supply of non-perishable goods to be added to the Food Pantry.

Per Stirling has made a difference for many families in Central Texas by continuing the fight against hunger.   For our December Volunteer Initiative, we will focus on supporting various programs that will provide gifts for less fortunate children and their families during this holiday season .
