John Trenholm

Financial Advisor

John has been a financial advisor for over 30 years. After serving in the Air Force and graduating from the University of Texas, John was selected to open the first Edward Jones office in Dallas.

However, when later given the opportunity to open the first Edward Jones office in central Texas, he jumped at the chance to bring his family back to Austin. John ultimately decided to leave Edward Jones and work in an independent environment that better allows him to always put the best interest of his clients first, which is what he has now done for more than twenty years.

John focuses on a more conservative approach to investing; creating and managing diversified investment portfolios. He delights in building relationships with his clients, and in understanding both their financial and personal goals of financial security. His clients include retirees, professionals, executives, and corporate retirement accounts.

John has been married to his wife, Linda, for 40 years, and they have been blessed with two children. Their daughter, Jen, is married and works as a Pflugerville school teacher. She is also the mother of Jacelyn, John and Linda’s first grandchild, who is the delight of ‘Papa J’. John and Linda’s son, Nathan, has followed in his father’s footsteps, and is an investment advisor representative with Per Stirling. Nathan works closely with John in addressing the investment advisory needs of their respective clients.

John was brought up as part of a military family, typically moving every three years during his youth. This experience stimulated his love for travel and new adventures, including trips to Europe, Asia, and Hawaii. His favorite domestic destination remains California in general, and Yosemite in particular, which has been a regular family destination for 20 years.

John and his family are huge fans of UT athletics. In fact, John hasn’t missed a Texas – OU football game since 1971. He enjoys planning the next vacation, golf with friends, trying new recipes and sharing the bounty of his vegetable garden with friends and family.
