Mary believes that the financial planning process can best provide the tools for a secure and rewarding financial future. She helps her clients maximize their resources by providing: organization, to help bring order to their financial life; accountability, to help them follow through on their goals; objectivity, to help them avoid emotionally driven decisions; proactivity, to help anticipate their life transitions so that they are prepared for them; education, by fully explaining options and their associated risks; and partnership, by working collaboratively with them and on their behalf. Whether she’s working with fellow baby boomers or women in transition, Mary brings clarity, direction and compassion to the planning process.
She graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas Financial Planning Certificate Program and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner. Mary also completed a specialized educational program in professional divorce analysis from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts™ (IDFA™) and is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ (CDFA™). She is a member of the Austin Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, where she served on the Board of Directors.
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Mary completed her undergraduate degree at Syracuse University in 1981. She moved to Austin with her family in 2003 from the New York metropolitan area. Mary and her husband, Jim Laurie, have two children, Ben and Alison. She is actively involved in financial literacy efforts, volunteers at the Lake Travis Thrift Shop, is a member of the Ladies of Charity and the Finance Council of Emmaus Catholic Parish in Lakeway.
