Bob started working in the financial services industry immediately after graduating from Washington and Lee University in 1982. His resume includes nineteen years of experience managing institutional portfolios and over two decades serving as President, Director, Chief Investment Officer or Vice-President of different Registered Investment Advisor and Broker-Dealer firms.
He currently serves as company Director and lead manager for two of Per Stirling’s SMA portfolio strategies. He also authors the monthly Per Stirling Capital Outlook, which details the firm’s macro-economic perspective. In addition, he works directly as an advisor for a select group of individual investors, which includes primarily physicians, executives of technology-oriented firms, and retirees.
Bob lives in an old Victorian house in Georgetown with his wife, Karen, and their lab mix, Zeus. ‘There is something about owning a house that is almost 120 years old that gives you a very long term perspective, and teaches you a lot about the importance of building with quality components, whether it be a porch or a portfolio.’
‘I consider myself to be extraordinarily blessed on so many levels. I have a wonderful family. I get to do, day in and day out, a job that I am absolutely passionate about. I am part of a truly exceptional team at Per Stirling, where everyone shares the same fiduciary, ‘client-first’ philosophy, and I have the distinct pleasure of working with what I consider to be the world’s greatest group of clients. What more could one ask for?’ Bob is quoted with some regularity in a variety of national publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Thompson Reuters, and Dow Jones Newswire. In his spare time, Bob works on their house and spends time with his family. He also enjoys cycling, listening to music, and playing Frisbee with Zeus.
