Bob started working in the financial services industry immediately after graduating from Washington and Lee University in 1982. His resume includes over two decades serving as President, Director, Chief Investment Officer or Vice-President of different Registered Investment Advisor and Broker-Dealer firms, and he has served as an institutional portfolio manager since 1998.
He currently serves as company Director and lead manager for Per Stirling’s SMA Growth Portfolio, and also authors the monthly Per Stirling Capital Outlook, which details the firm’s macro-economic perspective. In addition, Bob works directly as an advisor for a select group of individual clients, which includes primarily physicians, executives of technology-oriented firms, and retirees.
Bob recently returned to Austin after spending the prior twenty years living in and restoring an old Victorian house in Georgetown. “There is something about owning a house that is over 120 years old that gives you a very long term perspective, and teaches you a lot about the importance of building with quality components, whether it be a porch or a portfolio.”
“I consider myself to be extraordinarily blessed on so many levels. I have a wonderful family. I get to do, day in and day out, a job that I am absolutely passionate about. I am part of a truly exceptional team at Per Stirling, where everyone shares the same fiduciary, ‘client-first’ philosophy, and I have the distinct pleasure of working with what I consider to be the world’s greatest group of clients. What more could one ask for?” Bob is quoted with some regularity in a variety of national publications, including Barrons, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, The New York Times, US News and World Report, and Fortune Magazine, as examples. In his spare time, Bob enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, and also enjoys cycling, listening to music, and taking his dog Victor for walks in the hills and woods of West Austin.
