SeptemberPer Stirling Volunteers! – Back to School
Per Stirling’s Volunteer Initiative for August focused on the return to school which, much like last year, was fraught with challenges. As such, we were able to identify several opportunities to help families navigate through this difficult time.
Our team once again supported Foundation Communities, an Austin-based back-to-school drive that concentrates on after-school education programs, through monetary donations. Last year, our donations helped provide healthy snacks for children, as well as school supplies and chrome books for children who are attending school virtually, but have no other at-home technology. This year, donations helped purchase backpacks filled with supplies, laptops, educational software and after-school meals for more than 600 students!
Monetary Donations were also made to Austin Angels, an Austin-based non-profit that focuses on kids in foster care and the increased struggles they face during the pandemic. Austin Angels works actively to provide stability and to teach the skills necessary to face the challenges experienced by children and youth in foster care.
We were also able to make monetary donations towards the AISD Crisis Support Fund. The Austin Ed Fund supports school communities by supplementing access to food services, health programs, remote and in-person learning needs and much more.
During this month of September, we are focusing efforts on Cancer Awareness.
