OctoberPer Stirling Volunteers! – Cancer Awareness
Per Stirling employees and advisors are driven to make a global impact by contributing to both our local communities and society at large in meaningful ways. This month’s volunteer initiative centered on raising awareness regarding childhood cancer and on supporting a cleaner environment.
Last month, a group of Per Stirling employees participated in a Kayak Clean-up event at Ladybird Lake. Equipped with trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers, they successfully collected over 7 pounds of litter within just one hour. As a whole, volunteers removed over 50 pounds of trash from the lake.
On a different front, September marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and St. Jude organized its annual Walk/Run event at The Pitch in North Austin. This event serves a noble cause, as no family at St. Jude must ever bear the burden of treatment costs, largely due to the generosity of individual donors. St. Jude remains a global leader in advancing our understanding of treating, and ultimately conquering childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The St. Jude’s Walk/Run took place both virtually and in person on Saturday, September 30th. The event raised over $185,000 for St. Jude, surpassing their $180,000 goal, and included 1,656 participants.
September proved to be an excellent month for hands-on volunteering. Looking ahead to November, our focus will shift to Thanksgiving, where we will collect non-perishable items for those in need.
