AprilPer Stirling Volunteers – It’s My Park Day!
In March, Per Stirling team members gathered with neighbors and other volunteers at Brentwood Park for It’s My Park Day. This biannual event brings together volunteers from all walks of life to enhance our city’s green spaces. We were proud to roll up our sleeves and be part of this meaningful community event.
One of the day’s key tasks was mulching, with a 20 cubic yard dump truck of double grind mulch ready to support the health of our trees. Mulching is vital for the well-being of our urban forest, helping trees retain moisture and nutrients essential for their growth.
Local businesses came together to support the volunteer effort in meaningful ways that helped make the day a success. Austin Parks Foundation supplied the tools and T-shirts, while other local businesses offered generous ‘givebacks’ to park volunteers. Everything from hot coffee and bagels to pizza, fries, and shakes once the work was done. A special thanks goes to Eldorado Cafe, who generously prepared and donated 80 breakfast tacos to keep everyone energized. The support and commitment from our local business community made the day more memorable as we worked side by side and strengthened our connection to the neighborhood.
There were over 60 volunteers in attendance. It was a busy but incredibly rewarding experience, reminding us of the power of collective action and the joy of making a noticeable difference in our own backyard.
As we reflect on Its My Park Day, we’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Brentwood Park’s beauty and sustainability. We look forward to continuing our stewardship of Austin’s parks and green spaces together.
Join us next time as we continue to grow and nurture our community, one park at a time.
