Per Stirling Volunteers! – Review of 2020

As we entered the New Year, our team wanted to reflect upon 2020, and some of the impact that we were able to have on our communities during this most difficult period. To this end, we used the month of January to look back upon our various campaigns, particularly in light of 2020’s many challenges, and to set our sights on new initiatives for the new year.

Throughout the month, we have received a variety of great suggestions from both employees and advisors at Per Stirling regarding opportunities for us to make a difference in 2021, and we are really looking forward to continued progress against the pandemic, which will allow us to be much more “hands-on” in our efforts, as we endeavor to make a difference for those in need.

While the pandemic outbreak presented hurdles that we could not have even imagined a year ago, when we were setting our goals for 2020, we are very pleased to report that we actually managed to exceeded our expectations, and made more of a difference that we thought was possible under the circumstances. Indeed, we are beyond excited to announce our team at Per Stirling contributed more than $32,000 in monetary donations during 2020, in addition to the hours of “hands-on” time volunteering.

Here’s an overview of our initiatives for 2020, amidst the global pandemic:

February 2020 – Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of South-Central Texas

Per Stirling made a generous monetary donation towards Grace May’s fundraising challenge!

March 2020 – Jail to Jobs

This was a “hands-on” initiative that we unfortunately had to cancel, as soon as the pandemic hit.

April 2020 – Helping out the community

Staff and Advisors at Per Stirling made monetary donations to several non-profit organizations including; Austin Pets Alive, Central Texas Food Bank & Hays County Food Bank. Others took action by going grocery shopping for the elderly and those who were at higher risk and most vulnerable to the coronavirus. Groceries were also purchased and donated to churches.

An advisor at Per Stirling also adopted a family through his child’s school and made weekly monetary donations to assist with food and other finances.

May & June 2020 – Continuing to help out the community

Per Stirling Advisor, Katherine Zamora and her family, made face masks for all of Per Stirling’s staff and spouses. Staff & advisors at Per Stirling also made additional monetary donations to the Central Texas Food Bank and Hays Food Bank. One of our Advisors also adopted a puppy from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter to help the local animal shelters as well as help ease the feeling of isolation.

We continued these types of efforts throughout June, when Per Stirling Advisors and Staff combined to donate over $4,000 in funds towards Feeding America, Communities in Schools, UNICEF, ACLU, Foundation Communities and the Austin Urban League.

July 2020 – Community Initiatives Continued

Our community initiatives continued throughout July when, in addition to hours spent volunteering, staff and advisors made over $5,000 in monetary donations towards Dell Children’s Hospital, Communities in Schools and a handful of additional community organizations.

August 2020 – Back to School

Nearly $400 in monetary donations were made this month to Back-to-School Drives of Austin and Hutto, Bookspring & Texas Kids Read. Per Stirling also assisted in stuffing 300 school supply bags for Texas Kids Read. This organization promotes early childhood literacy in Central Texas, by giving away free books to children in need.

September 2020 – Breast Cancer Awareness

Per Stirling’s staff and advisors raised over $2,000 in the month of September towards Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

October 2020 – Mental Health Awareness

Per Stirling staff and advisors made donations to a variety of mental health-related organizations, including the Trevor project, Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

November 2020 – Central Texas Food Bank

Our team raised enough funds to provide 6,000 meals for our fellow Central Texans.  One of our advisors, Tasha Rock and her husband Rob, cooked for approximately 700 people at their church on Thanksgiving which provided meals for nursing home residents and staff, firefighters, police, and anyone else who signed up for the free meals.

December 2020 – Needs for the Holidays

Monetary donations were made towards Meals on Wheels, Central Texas Food Bank, Wounded Warriors and Samaritan Ministries.  On a company level, Per Stirling made a $20,000 donation, which was split between the Central Texas Food Bank, The Ronald McDonald House of Central Texas and The American Red Cross of Central Texas.

What a year 2020 was! Cheers to the new year and aiming to make an even bigger difference within the community this year.
